Beverly and George Thompson bring a rich tapestry of ministry experiences and skills to their work as teachers, consultants, coaches, and pastors.  Beverly has degrees in nursing and gerontology and earned a D.Min. in spiritual formation from Columbia Theological Seminary while serving Presbyterian congregations in the greater Atlanta area.  She is a member of Spiritual Directors International and teaches ministerial leadership at the Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta.  George is Professor of Leadership and Ministry Practice at the Interdenominational Theological Center and served Presbyterian, Union, and United Church of Christ congregations across the United States, before moving to Atlanta.

George holds earned doctorates in spirituality, in biblical interpretation, and in theology and the human sciences (Ph.D.).  He is a founding member of the Academy of Religious Leadership and serves on the editorial board of its Journal (www.arl-jrl.org).  His publications address issues of effective parish ministry, leadership and power, and resources for framing congregational life.  His latest book was co-authored with Beverly--Grace for the Journey:  Practices and Possibilities for In-Between Times (Alban:  2011), which was awarded “Best Book for Congregational Vitality, 2011” by Hearts and Minds Bookstore (www.heartsandminds.com).

The Thompsons have consulted and coached congregations and pastors for a number of years, including time as a Field Consultant Team with The Alban Institute.  Both Ministers of Word and Sacrament, the Thompsons have served as interim pastors and currently share a part-time position in transitional ministry.  They live in the historic southern Appalachian town of Dahlonega, Georgia, in a farmhouse that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
